Virtual meeting between ALBCOLD, ICOLD and CFBR, 12.09.2022

On September 12, 2022, at the request of the Chairman of KKDM, Mr. Arjan Jovani, one was organized virtual meeting with the president of ICOLD, Mr. Lino and the president of CFBR, Mr. AELBTRCHT.

The members of ALBCOLD took part in the meeting, Mr. Llambro Duni, Mr. Neritan Shkodrani and Mrs. Rolanda Hila, member of KTPD, Mr. Arduen Karagjozi and the general secretary of ICOLD, Mr. De Vivo

At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Arjan Jovani made a presentation about the big dams in Albania and the organization of ALBCOLD according to the legislation in force. Then, Mr. AELBRECHT made a presentation for Dams in France and the activities of the French Committee of Dams and Reservoirs (CFBR).

The meeting continued with the discussion of experiences for important issues in the field of dams such as :

• Updating and improving the technical standards for the design of large dams.
• The role of dam committees in the preparation of guidelines and recommendations for the design of dams and their safety.
• Improving and updating the legislation in the field of dams and exchanging experiences with the corresponding Committees.
• Dam safety plans and future dam safety certification.
• Assessment of assets of large dams and their hydraulic structures

Mr. Jovani informed the President of ICOLD about the activities that will be organized next month with SLOCOLD and ITCOLD,

Mr. De Vivo offered the support of the General Secretariat of ICOLD to make available to ALBCOLD the bulletin and technical documentation related to the field of design and safety of dams.

The participants agreed to organize a joint two-day workshop in Albania between ALBCOLD and CFBR where the main problems of dams in both countries will be discussed.

Also, it was agreed to examine with the steering committees of ALBCOLD and CFBR the possibility of a memorandum of understanding between the two analogous committees.

Mr. Jovani invited Mr. Lino and Mr. Aelbrecht for a working visit to Albania during which visits to several large dams will be organized and a meeting will be held with the members of ALBCOLD.
