On June 1, 2022, a seminar on large dams in Albania was organized at the Polytechnic University of Turin (UPT). In the years 1939-1941, Prof. Petrit Radovicka, the first Chairman of ALBCOLD, studied at this University.
In the seminar, the Chairman of ALBCOLD, Mr. Arjan Jovani presented a brief history of the construction of 351 large dams and Hydropower dams in Albania, where an important contribution was made by prof. Radovicka as well as for exploitation and their monitoring nowadays. There take part the students of UPT, colleagues, and representatives of ITCOLD and Italian companies in the field of monitoring and maintenance of large dams in Italy

On 27.06.2022, the National Committee of Large Dams (ALBCOLD) organized a meeting for the month of June 2022.

The main issues discussed in this meeting were:

1- Review of the technical documentation for the approval of the works for the construction of the HEPP Lumzi dam. After reviewing this documentation, ALBCOLD did not approve the Approval Act of the completed works and asked its user to complete the documentation according to the requirements of the legislation in force.

2- Review of the Annual Report on the condition and monitoring of large dams administered by the Ministry of Agricultural and Rural Development (MBZHR). After reviewing the documentation and the situation on the site as well as the discussions of the participating members, the KKDM decided on the relevant tasks for taking measures and completing the requests from its user regarding the monitoring of 8 large dams, the preparation of emergency plans, the submission of the list of large dams that are out of order, etc.

3- Review of the request of the OST in relation to the TL line project on the Xhafzotaj dam administered by the Durres Municipality. ALBCOLD evaluated the changes in the project regarding the location of the pillars of this line and decided to recommend to OST cooperate with Durres Municipality and AMBU regarding the management of the reservoir created by this dam in the future. In addition, the ALBCOLD decided to ask the Durres Municipality to prepare and submit the civil emergency plan as well as the flood maps in the urban area below the dam.
